I have been trying to run in my new OS Speed allday and i have only managed to get it to tick over for 4 seconds. I have done 3 chargers of starter box, two glow starts, changed plugs checked feul line checked fuel filter and had the needles in every possible setting known to man. I even printed off what Jon Dell wrote on here and still nothing can anyone help there is also a reward for anyone who gets it started and runs it in for me (i will help)

OH and i might need a new starter box wheel now aswell ITS NOT FUNNY  Cry Cry

these bad boys are tight glen my box was smoking i melted all the tamyia connections shorted out the stick packs and burned the wheel down Sad and the switch went aswell lol

i totally under estimated how important some heat is before you start it i never have had to use a heat gun or hairdyrer before with the rb's they usually just turn over with a fully charged box.

so i heated it up and also had to lean it out a bit more just to get it started as it would not run on the rich setting.after that it starts everytime... i take it youve pushed the carb right down in the housing and dropped a bit of after run in the top like jon suggested.

apart from that dude there is nothing i can suggest i hope you get it sorted you'll love running it once this nightmare is over lol.

+2 on heat - get it up to about 170F (or more) heating the crankcase first so the heat dissipates through the engine to the head and it'll spin over reasonably easily.  Will probably still stick a bit until it starts the first time.

Did that for mine and needed to lean the HSN A LOT to keep the temps around 200F with foil wrapped around the head to keep it warm - probably won't need the foil if it's a warm day.

Did a couple of tanks like that on the box using throttle trim to keep the revs up a little bit, then plonked it down and richened it up and started heat cycling tanks through it - runs sweet as now Smiley

I'm really surprised you all had such difficulty my speed started up first time. All I did was put a couple of drops of after run in before I started it up. I always get the starter box spinning before I finally push the flywheel onto it but bar that it was sweet as a nut. it was running rich, and because I heat cycle my motors I leaned it out pretty quick, just to get it up to temp.

Goog luck getting it running Glen, you know it will be worth it in the end.

what said above + take the fuel pipe off the exhaust and blow the fuel up to the carb.....heat to 250 -300 f   dont be afraid to lean it off the bottom end  to get it started .....leave the glow igniter on.... for a while ...... john dells method  is a very quick and easy way to run one in .......i used it on saturday evening for an engine to run on sunday past  worked very well...it scrubs the pinch off quite quick and power levels come really quick on the track........
