The weekend of the 4/5th October was the novarossi gp, with all the hipe from last year could it be bettered. In my view it would be a tall order but with the new dirt track it had the potential. For reasons only the organisers can explain it would be split so truggys on the dirt & buggys on the astro, oh well potential gone & so did the entry to both classes. I will not moan about the meeting as it run reasonably well but did lack atmosphere & seemed just like a big club meet.
unable to practice friday & having not run on the track since last years event, new car etc everything would be against me. This topped with no reseeding of the heats & in a slow one the weekend was against me for sure.
Through out the day slowly got up to pace but having to overtake two cars a lap would never get a fast run in, so nothing to report on the runs as uneventfull. At the end of saturday was 16th & in the semi so goal achieved.
Sunday & heavy rain so 5th round used for car setup for the finals.
Semi practice was good & with the semi now reduced to 10 minutes had a good start which was the key. had the option of not needing to stop but would wait to late in the race to see if this was needed. Getting into 3rd had a very good safety margin so took on some fuel for safety & came home 5th & into the main.
With the awfull weather had spent most of the morning making water guards & sealing everything. This paid off as nothing got in during the 30 minute main. The Main for me was just keeping out of the puddles where possible, this paid off & just kept plugging away to come home 5th so happy with that. Had altered the car just prior to the main but did not like it maybe next time i wont tinker.
Astro worked as meeting kept going, this is always false economy though in my view as another engine wrecked through water getting in. Cancelled meeting for the truggys but no damaged gear not sure who was real winner.
Personnaly would rather run on dirt & just pack up if it gets to bad rather than astro getting in a full meeting but wrecking gear.
Anyhow that's me done for a while, bit of family time pre AGM committee meeting & said AGM that's most of October taken up for me.
