We finally got rid of all the stuff down the track today. It was very sad this week to break things down and take it off the site. I know over the past years that a few people put time and effort into making DRT what it was.

It is a shame it had to go the way it did. I personally would like to thank everyone who came down and helped and those who ran the meetings.

It was hard work to keep the track open. But i felt it was worth it. There was a good crowd of us that enjoyed working and racing. Not sure if i am going to be carrying on racing or not, as dartford was so close to me, not sure if i have got the heart in going to other tracks.

I may see some of you again, i may not. It was nice meeting you all and thanks to those who gave me plenty of advise on running my cars.

I think everyone that worked and ran the meetings, should all give themself a pat on the back for a job well done! Without people like those, there wouldn't be any race tracks.

Thank you all. Goodbye. Chris    Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

It really does sadden me to see this sort of thing happening.

I think what people in the RC community need to realise  is these tracks do not look after themselves and it takes committed people (volunteers) to run and maintain them.

It is also not cheap running a club and with racers not wanting entry fees to go up most track organisers are in a catch 22.

If this hobby carries on the way it is, local tracks and possibly even some of the larger tracks will (and probably already are) struggle to stay open.

We will then be in the situation we were in a few years ago, being chased out of council parks as there is nowhere local to race.

It was one of the main reasons I pulled out of this hobby a year or so ago, there just was no commitment from the community to help run and maintain tracks such as DRT and the funding was just not there as even a £2 price increase in race fees was met with anger and threats to go race elsewhere.

Good on the guys that managed to keep DRT running for so long both before and after we were there, I don't know how you managed to keep it running so long and it would be a shame to see people leaving the RC community because of this closure.
