Round 7 of the HNMC winter series this week due to the amount of rain would run on the astro turf track as the dirt track was not usable. The astro section has grown & developed over the previous year, from the outside does not look much or a bit flat for 1/8th but once driven wow what a great little track to keep your thumbs in. The flow is great, super fast & technical but more importantly great fun so well done Herts & your crew.
To the racing some 6 heats worth would attend so no mean feat with many Agama's in the pits, noticably Brennan Ralls, Mark Tarrier & Steve Brunsden. From the other manufacurers Brunsden & Nibblet from Durango, Reeves & Tapman from losi, Naggy from JQ so many fast locals to the track with a good competition.
A 30 minute practice allowed Team Agama to tune things to the track with the cars showing a good turn of speed.
Rnd 1 Ralls would laydown the gauntlet with his average laps faster than most's fastest to take TQ from 2nd by 12 seconds & the rest of the field way back. Comments from the visiting Mr Hazelwood was he didnt just beat but anialated them. Tarrier drove a good race to keep well within the top 10 & Brunsden senior down a little but using this event to break in an engine.
Rnd 2 Brunsden Jnr would find his pace now taking the round, & bobble from Ralls & bad luck in back markers meant he could not challange for Tq settling for 3rd from Reeves. Tarrier again a good run to keep his A main place.
Rnd 3 could go 3 ways between Ralls Brunsden & Reeves. The pace was fast between the 3 with Ralls & Reeves battling together putting in a blistering pace & a time for TQ with Ralls having the edge & extra pace, both had a 1 tumble in back markers allowing Brunsden to just pip the round.
Noticable things from the team Agama is no real changes required from dirt to an astro track which shows the car is in good balance, the efficient drive train even on a high power track allows for a 10 minute run where other manufacturers where not making the cut there.
Qualifying
1st Brunsden Jnr
2nd Ralls ---- -Agama
3rd Reeves
4th Tapman
5th Tarrier ------ Agama
To the finals Brunsden Snr & his agama bumped up several finals to the B & another great drive. The A would turn out to be a great battle, Brunsden & Ralls would break free & clear a good 1/2 lap lead over 3rd. By 5 minutes the pace was still high & a small bobble allowed Brunsden a 5 second gap on Ralls. Fuel stops arrived & Ralls would take the lead for a bit till real bad luck in traffic left Ralls on his roof for what seemd for ever & Brunsden was gone. Ralls now back in the pack & fight it was, battling now hard with Reeves would take the position again with a few minutes to go for 2nd which he held to the end..
Great job Team
